Putting the ‘Uh!’ in Underwear: The Big Guide on Vibrating Panties

For an exciting new experience, many people have ventured into the world of public play, with advancements in technology allowing higher-quality panty vibrators to become more affordable. With so many options on the market, it’s now difficult to know what to choose.

In this guide, we’ll look at; What to look for when buying, cleaning, and care, and detailed product reviews.

What To Look For When Buying Vibrating Panties

First, you need to understand that these toys have a different set of problems and benefits than other sex toys, they also have a different set of rules. You’ll also find that they can be placed into 3 different categories: panties, thongs, or wearables.

1. Panty Vibrators

Most products will be some form of underwear (usually lace, but other fabrics are possible) with a pocket in the front for a vibrator to sit in, so as to target the clitoris and vulva (to make vibrating panties). Better products are able to be placed in any type of underwear, held in place with a magnet.

  • Beware of “one-size-fits-all” promises. As we all know, something that can “fit” everyone doesn’t always mean that it fits well.
  • Check flexibility – too tight or too loose will be uncomfortable and not fun to wear. They can also come with  “ties” at the side (which is the best option for adjustability).
  • If the pocket allows you to change the vibrator, perhaps you have found a bullet vibrator that better suits your needs.
  • For the wearable variety with magnets, how strong the magnet is to make sure that it can stay attached as you move about.

2. Thong / C-String Vibrators

The next type looks like a G-string without the side straps (otherwise known as a C-string, as they imitate the C shape, get it?). They are plastic casts and are usually covered in fabric.

  • Fits a wider range of users dues to the design, with no need for straps or ties.
  • Due to their design, they also don’t stay in place as well and are better worn with trousers. If wearing a skirt or dress, pantyhose are advised.
  • Can be uncomfortable if wearers are not used to G-string underwear.
  • The motor is part of the “thong” and cannot be changed. If it is not strong enough or it breaks the whole thing becomes useless.
  • The fabric isn’t removable in some products, so you can’t clean the toy, which is not desirable.

3. Hip Strap Vibrators

These lean more towards sex toys and the kink community, but still come close enough that they get a mention. Rather than fabric or plastic form to hold things in place, it comes with straps to fasten around the hips/waist.

  • The hip/waist straps will keep things securely in place if you want to wear something under a skirt (without pantyhose).
  • Depending on your idea of aesthetics, the straps may not look as elegant or sexy.
  • Not many (if any) high-quality options to choose from – many cheap options can be found online from retailers like Amazon.
  • A lot have a vaginal insert as part of the design (pro or con depending on your tastes).
  • Tend to be not as subtle as other types of vibrators.

NOTE: I don’t count insertable sex toys in this category (things like Lovense Lush 3 or WeVibe Jive) as they have no need for panties.

When you know what kind you prefer, then you can move on to the next steps…

Budget – Depending on the style you want there is a range of products and prices, so don’t feel the need to spend a lot on your first purchase, but remember that cheap products usually do not perform as well.

Remote – Some have one, some don’t, but to get one with a remote or even better, App control! This adds to the excitement of public play as your partner can control what you feel and when.

Return Policies – Of course, the toy comes with a warranty, but be aware that the remote will most likely be separate and different (like 1 year for the toy, but two weeks for the remote). Carefully check before you buy so as not to get caught in the trap and have a useless remote after a short period of time.

Motor – In this case, size matters. As a rule of thumb the bigger the motor the more powerful, but also louder. Try and choose a product that has a video to show the motor in action, especially if you want to wear it out in public.

Battery – does it take batteries (and what kind) or can it be charged? In-built batteries tend to be better, but then you also need to consider charge and use times.

Cleaning and Care of Panty Vibrators

dildo, panty vibrator, sex toy

Take care when cleaning the product as different materials require different methods to help maintain. Some may be more waterproof than others so be sure to check their IPX rating.  However, the basic hygiene rules still apply…

  • Like all underwear the panties should be washed before you first use them, and then every time after you use them. For cleanliness, the vibrator should be wiped clean before and after use.
  • If the batteries can be removed, take them out when you are not using the toy. This will stop them from being drained and also any damage that may come from leakage.
  • Check the IPX rating to know which parts can or cannot be submerged, cheaper products will need to be wiped clean.
  • Store in a clean bag, somewhere dry and out of direct sunlight (and any wandering eyes).

REMEMBER: if it looks cheap then it probably won’t last that long.

Product Reviews – 9 Vibrating Panties

OhMiBod Club Vibe 2.Oh

Many cam models use these toys, so I was super excited for it to arrive. The excitement faded as I tried to turn it on, but the batteries were dead… WTF?

$70 and I need to charge the thing before I can use it, for that price it should be ready to go out of the box!

So, I had to leave it to charge. After a few hours of charging, I must be honest, it wasn’t worth the wait.

Even at the highest setting, I could barely feel anything in my hand. The motor was weak, buzzy, and LOUD. Not to mention it also wasn’t very comfortable as it is quite bulky. Even the “club” feature, the thing that was the selling point of the toy, didn’t sync well with music.

A disappointment to me and many other users, clearly the cam girls were faking it.

Ferri by Lovense

While most vibrating panties come with underwear which you need to slide a vibrator into, Ferri comes with a magnetic clip to hold it in place. It even comes with an extra clip, for those of us who can be a little careless with small components.

No remote is required, it’s App controlled, through Bluetooth that can even be used over long distances! Perfect for public play or for those who are in a long-distance relationship.

It’s small and comfortable to wear, even when sitting down, it doesn’t feel like you’re straddling a log! It may not be as powerful as other Lovense toys, but for its size, it packs quite a punch!

Bonus points for being fully waterproof for when things get really exciting.

“White Label” Vibrating Panties”

They are the scourge of this sex toy category.

There is no brand name or company behind this product – just a manufacturer that churns them out on a factory line as cheap as possible and then sells them in bulk to others, who, in turn, slap their own name/label on it then resell it in sex store or online for a quick buck.

This is a “white label”. There’s nothing wrong with it – it happens in other products all the time. However, it’s not something you want in a sex toy. Examples: LeLuv, Sex-Zone, Baile, Oceantree, etc.

Not to mention they’re bulky and don’t always hit the right spot … and the motor is weak … and loud.

My Body Blooms – Fifty Shades

You can’t walk five feet in the sex toy world without tripping over a Fifty Shades of Grey product.

However, as much as I dislike the movies and books (and the hype), their sex toys (from my limited experience and user reviews) seem to be okay. Not utterly fantastic, but not terrible like some competing products.

The problem is, the set is over $100 from a line that hasn’t been tried/tested very much. There wasn’t much to go on, but I’m assuming it will suffer from similar problems as other similar vibes – short-range control with remote etc.

If this one piques your interest, I would suggest going to a sex shop that carries it and looking at it in person before you make the decision.

Astrea Remote Vibrating Panty

Did you ever watch the movie “The Ugly Truth”? There’s the famous scene where the main character is wearing pantie vibes and the remote ends up lost in a restaurant. Well, these are those panties.

Buyer beware though, the panties are SMALL – reviews say that even a size 5-7 might not be able to fit into them.

There is only an on/off button with no power levels, so if it doesn’t rock your world, you’re stuck with a one-trick pony. The price tag is more on the affordable side, so they might be better if you’re on a budget or just want to play around.

Hot Date by Lovehoney

I like the splash of color with these – a nice alternative to pure black. The side ribbons also make it easier to fit most users.  There weren’t that many complaints about the vibe motor or pleasure.

However, most of the dissatisfaction came from the odd-sized battery and the short shelf life it has once you use it. That, and the vibe either slid around in the pocket or didn’t quite hit the right spot.

It has more positive comments than many other toys out there though.

Fixsation Vibrating Panty

A different design than most panties, so it immediately caught my eye – more of a garter belt with elastics that hold the vibe in place. Miss Ruby Reviews did a great overview of this one.

The gist of her article is that the vibe is around a 4/10 for strength, not quite enough to get to orgasm but pleasant if you like broad-targeting, buzzy sensations rather than rumbly. The entire thing sat snug enough against the body with nothing migrating out of place. There was, however, some hair pinching or pulling.

It’s water resistant, not waterproof and made from ABS plastic covered with a coating that isn’t silicone. There’s also no remote.

It might be better for at-home use during sex or fun times rather than public play.

Lock-N-Play Remote Panty Vibe

What we have here is a great idea. The side flaps are magnetic, which means you can change any underwear (that has a thin crotch section) with this toy – not to mention adjust the vibrator bump to wherever your sweet spot is.

Sadly, users have mentioned that the magnets aren’t as strong as they could/should be, the motor is anything but quiet, and the remote doesn’t have the best range. Also, upon further research, I found an identical model from a different company.

So, white-brand alert. It’s also 70+ dollars. And one has an “app” that I have zero idea if it’s any good.

Recommended? I really want to, but the price tag makes me say no. On a good sale? Sure!

OhMiBod BlueMotion NEX1

I’m sometimes willing to give toys a second chance (especially if they’ve come out with a second generation).

So, after watching a few videos about BlueMotion, I was willing to give it another go – hoping they had learned from their mistakes and made a better product that was worthy of the insane price tag.

Nope.

Still disappointing. Basically, it’s the Club Vibe with a poorly designed app.

Quick Vibrating Panties Recap

  • Not many great-quality options out there, so shop carefully
  • Make sure there is a remote control or app (easier to turn on/off)
  • Check the remote control range (usually not far) and app reviews.
  • Check what type of battery it takes or if it is rechargeable
  • Check what panty sizes are available (if any)
  • Make sure it’s body-safe
  • See if the vibrator is rumbly or buzzy
  • Check if the motor is loud or quiet
