Ma nuit en solo était plus humide qu'il ne l'a jamais fait

What do you do when a romantic trip for two becomes a solo trip for one？Faced with a room full of rose petals and a non refundable heartbreak, she chose to stay. She traded her shared plans for a bottle of wine, a night at the theater, and an intimate awakening with Nora that changed everything.

Trip for two, boyfriend didn't show. The room was covered in rose petals and she was standing there alone. What started as the worst night turned into something she didn't expect.

I had booked a three night city break to Dublin for my partner and I. Long story short, he never made the trip.

 

Heartbroken, I initially wanted to cancel but I had spent a lot of money, much of it non-refundable so I decided to just go on my own. I changed things around so it felt more like a me trip, not what it was supposed to be for us.

 

I remember getting to the hotel room and just losing it. I had completely forgotten I'd arranged a room package, so there's balloons and rose petals everywhere and I'm standing there alone like an idiot. Wanted the ground to swallow me honestly.

For some reason I had brought Nora with me. I don't even know why, I hadn't used it in weeks or in fact without him. It's wild to think I only owned two toys back then, how did I survive?!

At some point I decided to give myself a shake. Went to a local store and got bubble bath, moisturiser, wine, chocolates, the works. Also booked myself a night at the Bord Gáis theatre to see Little Shop of Horrors which I would highly recommend by the way.

 

That evening was mine. Ran a bath, poured the wine, brought Nora in with me. Just the warm water and quiet and nobody expecting anything from me. First time in days I wasn't thinking about him. I cried when I came, it was bittersweet but strangely beautiful in a way I can't really explain.

Didn't magically fix anything but something shifted that night. Like I realised I had to start doing things for me again.

 

Just to really top it off my purse was stolen the next day.

That trip taught me a lot though. I went to Edinburgh later that year on my own and I'm planning London this summer. Did Nora make the holiday amazing? Probably not, but it showed me I could still feel good without needing someone else there to make it happen. Poor toy has been battered ever since.
